Red Wheelbarrow

so much depends/upon/a red wheel/barrow--William Carlos Williams (1923)

De Anza College's literary magazine appears annually in both a National and a Student Edition. The National Edition is open to everyone from around the country and the world. The Student Edition is open to all students in the Foothill-De Anza Community College District.

From 1976 to 1999 this magazine was known as Bottomfish, a name which referred to neglected, overlooked writing that had (metaphorically) fallen to the bottom of the sea. We recognized the talent and published the work. Some people loved the name; others hated it. Those who liked it liked its quirkiness, its unpretentiousness.

We hope that the new name also signifies unpretentiousness. We hope that itís memorable. Other than that, it means nothing--other than a commitment to good writing (and art).

We welcome submissions of all kinds, and we seek to publish a diverse range of styles and voices.

Please note: we are not affiliated with Red Wheelbarrow Press or any other publisher or magazine with the same wonderful name.
