Red Wheelbarrow Literary Magazine (old page)National Student
so much depends/upon/a red wheel/barrow--William Carlos Williams (1923)
From 1976 to 1999 this magazine was known as Bottomfish, a name which referred to neglected, overlooked writing that had (metaphorically) fallen to the bottom of the sea. We recognized the talent and published the work. Some people loved the name; others hated it. Those who liked it liked its quirkiness, its unpretentiousness.
Now we feel it’s time for a new name. We hope that the new name also signifies unpretentiousness. We hope that it’s memorable. Other than that, it means nothing other than a commitment to good writing (and art).
We welcome submissions of all kinds, and we seek to publish a diverse range of styles and voices.
Please note: we are not affiliated with Red Wheelbarrow Press or any other publisher or magazine with the same great name.
