Child Lit Formal Writing Part 1

Personal Annotation of "Found Book"
Minimum word count: 750
Due Monday, July 16 (Be sure to bring your "found book" to class on Monday and Tuesday of this week.)
  • Starting with the cover of your book, go through it and note your personal responses (as a child and and as an adult) to both the form and content of the book.

  • You may format your annotation any way you wish so long as your readers will be able easily to connect your annotations to the relevant part of the book. (Be sure to give me a copy of your "found book" unless you have scanned it as part of your project, or I have told you that I have a copy of the book.)

Grading (25 points possible):
  • Shows individuality and  independent thinking with matters of significance (5 points)
  • Shows understanding of the concept on an "implied reader" (5 points)
  • Seems to know its audience and keep it in mind (audience = everyone in our class) (5 points)
  • Annotation format is clear (5 points)
  • Demonstrates basic control of the conventions of standard written English, i.e., comprehension, readability and respectability are not impeded by excessive errors in grammar, usage, punctuation and spelling. (5 points)
