An important goal of quality education is to equip each generation to participate effectively in what has been called "the great conversation" of our times. This means, on one hand, being unafraid of controversy. Welcome to my home page. Let me briefly introduce myself. The above quote by The Aga Khan captures my views about quality education and the essential role of communication as we participate in the great conversations of our time. I have been teaching in the Speech Communication department at De Anza College for over 20 years. The course that I primarily teach is Speech 1: Public Speaking. I also teach Speech 60: Facilitating Collaborative Communication every Spring quarter.
In addition to teaching full-time at De Anza, I am a co-founder of two organizations dedicated to improving the quality of public communication; The Public Dialogue Consortium (PDC) and Pearce Associates. Both of these organizations work in communities and organizations from the local to the international levels.
