READING 100

     Reading 100 is a 5-unit course that is one of the pre-requisites for EWRT 1A. The required textbook is Improving Reading Skills by Deanne Spears. Please do NOT buy a used book, because this is a workbook. You will need to mark on the pages and turn them in for a grade. We focus on six survival skills for college readers: vocabulary development; distinguishing main ideas from details; paraphrasing and summarizing; making valid inferences; evaluating persuasive evidence; and recognizing patterns of development. The readings are quite varied and exciting, and we often work in small, cooperative groups. You must also register for the co-requisite Reading 101 Reading lab, which meets for 1 hour weekly in LCW.

I am not currently scheduled to teach a Reading 100 class. I am teaching 2 sections of LART 211 (formerly known as LART 100) in Fall 08 instead.
