ECG/Critical Care Resources

The American Association of Critical Care Nurses has a very useful website.  Especially valuable are their practice alerts.  www.aacn.org

For a fun game where you can practice your ECG rhythm interpretation, please click here: http://www.skillstat.com/ECG_Sim_demo.html

If you want practice finding the "j point" in measuring ther QRS complex, this interactive link will help you locate the j point on various rhythms: http://www.monroecc.edu/depts/pstc/backup/parajpt1.htm

For a Spreadsheet comparing different cardiac rhythms using the 8 Step Method, please click on the following: 8 Step Comparison Grid  Please note that it is a guide, not an absolute (e.g., if someone goes into AF their heart rate is usually per the guide; however, someone with established AF [and on Digoxin, for example] will have a HR lower than those listed.)  Also, N/M on the spreadsheet refers to data that are not measurable.

If you're interested in reading an article detailing how arrhythmias in women are often different from those in men, click here:  http://www.womensheartfoundation.org/content/HeartDisease/cardiac_arrhythmias.asp
