HTEC 91: Medical Office Diagnostic Tests

The purpose of this course is for the student to learn and practice diagnostic lab procedures and instructions.  The student will be exposed to the theory of assisting with physical therapy, x-ray examinations, and performance and interpretation of electrocardiograms.

This course is offered Fall and Spring Quarters only, and must be taken concurrently with HTEC 101, the laboratory portion.  In HTEC 101, students are given lab time to perform 12 Lead ECGs on one another.

During the first class meeting, we will be discussing expected classroom behaviors.  You will be expected to read and sign the following document:  HTEC Code of Conduct

Performing ECGs:  Instructions for performing ECGs, including rules about using the rooms, expected behavior, etc. are available by clicking here: ECG Instructions  Please also view and print the following Procedure: Complete Procedure for Obtaining ECG Measurement

In addition, when you are getting ready to analye the ECGs you have run, you will need the following forms: ECG Analysis Sheet  and ECG Statement of Authenticity; please print and copy these forms, as you will need to staple BOTH to every ECG you submit.  You will also need the ECG Record Sheet -- this sheet summarizes 5 ECGs and is used as the face sheet when submitting your ECGs on the due date.  If you are required to submit 30 ECGs, you will need 6 copies of this form; if you are required to submit 10 ECGs, you will need 2 copies.
