QSEN Competency

The Quality and Safety Education for Nurses (QSEN) project is a proactive movement funded by the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation to educate future nurses in developing the essential knowledge, skills, and attitudes (KSAs) to improve the quality and safety of our health care systems.

We, in the De Anza College nursing school, are incorporating the QSEN competency KSAs into our curriculum.  Since the focus of Quarter 6 is Leadership and Management, we will be focusing on KSAs from the category Teamwork and Collaboration, which can be found here: http://www.qsen.org/ksas_prelicensure.php#teamwork_collaboration

KSAs from this document will be incorporated into your clinical paperwork, classroom discussions, and eventually the course clinical evaluation tool.  Please familiarize yourself with the QSEN competencies, especially the Teamwork and Collaboration KSAs.  Consult these when you design your preceptorship goals.
