RENEW offers many areas of support. One benefit is that many applicants receive early registration up until they have completed 36.5 De Anza units (units posted to your transcript). After that, your registration date will revert to your regularly assigned registration date, based on units completed. Under no circumstances can this privilege  be extended for anyone once you have earned 36.5 units (please check the homepage under "Who are RENEW students?" to see if you are eligible for RENEW).

In addition, early registration is given only to continuing students, so that if you miss an official quarter (fall, winter or spring) you will not receive early registration unless you are able to first apply (or reapply) to De Anza, and then notify the RENEW office in time. Summer is an unofficial quarter, but if you attend in the summer, you will be a continuing student for fall. If you miss any quarter other than summer, you must always reapply to De Anza. Let the RENEW office know of your pending return at least 3 weeks in advance of the early registration date, to ensure that you can receive early registration (if you are still eligible).

If you meet the requirements for RENEW and have more than 36.5 units, you are still eligible for RENEW (and all of the other support services).  No one is dropped from RENEW. If you should take a break from your education, you should let us know when you return only because there will be complications if you are to receive early registration; Admissions & Records must be informed in time to ensure that you receive an early registration date.

There is one exception for students who are resuming their education with 36.5 units or more. If you have had a significant break in your education (5 years or more since you last attended college), you can receive early registration (if we are informed in enough time) for your first quarter back. Please contact the RENEW office before you submit your application.
