The Language Arts Division is the largest division in the District with approximately 186 faculty, 63 classified employees, twenty some student employees, and seventy paid tutors. The Division consists of eight departments: English, ESL, Speech, Reading, Journalism, Technical Writing, Readiness, and Tutorial. We operate four different laboratories: English, ESL, Listening & Speaking, and Journalism/TECO. We have a Counselor and an Academic Advisor assigned to the Division, and work very closely with Student Services to integrate instruction with student services. We have a very active Developmental Task Force which focuses on Developmental Education, and we also run the Communication Across the Curriculum Program (CACP) which focuses on content-based ESL instruction; our iniotial efforts in that area are with Nursing/Health Services and Child Development. We also run the Cross Cultural Partners Program (CCP) which matches native and non-native speakers, and is completely grant funded. We very much appreciate the support of the many community members who donate their time and their assets to assist us in providing outstanding instruction and student support in the Language Arts Area.
