InfoAbout me...
I received my Bachelor's degree in
Management and Italian Literature (strange combination, I know!) from
UC Davis and my Master's degree in Teaching English to Speakers of
Other Languages from San Francisco State University. I have lived and
taught in both Italy and Japan. I taught for one
year at the American Language Institute at SFSU and then accepted a
teaching position as an English Lecturer at Kanda University of Foreign
Languages in Chiba, Japan where I stayed for 2 1/2 years. When I
returned to the Bay Area, I taught at Canada College for one year
before I found my current position at De Anza. In Spring
quarter, 2004, I was lucky enough to participate as an instructor for
Campus Abroad in Florence, Italy where I taught EWRT 1A, 1B, 2 and ELIT
10 as well.
The reason I became an ESL teacher
was primarily because of my family. My mother and father are from
Korea and several of my relatives have also immigrated to the United
States. Nearly all my family members were ESL students at one
point and, therefore, my interest in immigrant issues are very strong
and lie close to my heart. Now, I am thrilled and so thankful to
be teaching ESL at De Anza where I have met some amazing people from
all over the world!
