Course Description Class members receive guidance and extensive practice in listening and speaking in academic and social settings. Activities include giving reports, telling stories, making group decisions, evaluating problems, participating in debates and role playing. There will be instruction in pronunciation and speaking with more fluency.
Evaluation Evaluation of student skills will be in the form of ongoing observation, listening quizzes and class reports. You will receive feedback on your progress throughout the course. Grades are based on the following items:
Comprehensibility (pronunciation, stress, volume, rhythm) Involvement and participation in classroom activities Active listening skills (restating, paraphrasing, comprehension) Completion of assignments (reports, projects)
Listening and speaking Quizzes based on the CD - 25 points Pronunciation Tapes - 20 points Class Reports - 35 points Final Project - 20 points
Attendance Policy I will take attendance at the beginning of each class. If you miss 3 classes, you may be dropped from class. being late three times is equal to being absent once.
